Garages & Outbuildings
At Rogers Contracting, we've been building outbuildings across St. Lawrence County for 50 years, through two generations of the same family. Whether you need a simple detached garage, a full pole barn for equipment and storage, or a boathouse built to handle the river, we build it to the same standard we build our custom homes: made to last through a North Country winter, and made to look like it belongs.
Built to Match Your Home, Not Just Sit Next to It
Too many garages and outbuildings look like an afterthought — a mismatched roofline, the wrong siding, a structure that fights with the house instead of complementing it. We design every outbuilding around your existing home's style, roof pitch, and exterior materials, so the finished result reads as one property instead of a house with a shed bolted on nearby. If we built your home, we already know exactly what that means. If we didn't, we'll match it just as carefully.
Garages, Pole Barns & Workshops Built for North Country Winters
Snow load, frost heave, and long, hard winters aren't an afterthought here... they're the baseline. We build:
- Attached and detached garages: single or multi-bay, insulated or unheated, sized for vehicles, ATVs, boats, or all of the above
- Pole barns: post-frame construction for equipment storage, hay and farm use, or large open workspace, built to carry real snow load
- Workshops: insulated, wired, and heated for year-round use, whether that's woodworking, mechanical work, or a hobby space
- Boathouses and waterfront storage: sized and sited for river access, built to hold up against ice and seasonal water changes
Every structure is framed, insulated, and finished to hold up to what a North Country winter actually does to a building...not just what the code minimum requires.
Riverfront Know-How That Matters
Building anything near the St. Lawrence River comes with its own set of questions: shoreline setbacks, flood zone requirements, and permitting that a builder from outside the area often hasn't dealt with before. We have, for 50 years. If you're planning a boathouse, a garage close to the water, or any outbuilding on a riverfront lot, we already know what the local permitting process requires and how to site a structure so it holds up to the water instead of fighting it.

Serving St. Lawrence County & the North Country
We build garages, pole barns, and outbuildings throughout Hammond, Redwood, Morristown, Heuvelton, Brier Hill, Canton, Alexandria Bay, Ogdensburg, Potsdam, Theresa, and the surrounding North Country. F.A.Q.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a permit for a pole barn or garage in St. Lawrence County?
In most cases, yes — requirements vary by town and by whether the structure is near the shoreline. We handle permitting as part of every project, so you don't have to navigate it on your own.
Can you build a garage that matches the exterior of my existing home?
Yes — matching siding, roofline, and trim to your existing home is standard on every outbuilding we build, whether we built the original home or not.
Do you build boathouses on the St. Lawrence River?
Yes. Waterfront structures need to account for shoreline setbacks, ice, and seasonal water level changes — all things we plan for from the start.
How long does it take to build a garage or pole barn?
Timelines depend on size, site conditions, and permitting, but most standalone garages and pole barns are completed in a matter of weeks once permits are in hand. We'll give you a realistic schedule before work begins.
Do you build insulated workshops, or just storage structures?
Both. If you want a heated, wired, year-round workshop rather than simple storage, we'll build it to that spec from the foundation up.
